FAQs:

What subjects and grade levels do you tutor?

Currently, I offer tutoring in all elementary subjects. I work with students from Kindergarten through 5th grade. My goal is to help students build confidence and achieve their academic goals.

What are your qualifications and experience?

I hold a Bachelors degree in Human Development with an emphasis on Child Development from California State University, Long Beach which gives me a deep understanding of the cognitive and emotional stages of learning. I couple this with over 10 years of in-classroom teaching experience, allowing me to create a learning environment that is not just effective, but also supportive and catered to your child’s unique personality and learning style.

What is your tutoring philosophy?

My tutoring philosophy is built upon a strong foundation of both academic expertise and extensive practical experience. I believe in a student-centered approach to learning. My goal is to create a positive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and taking on new challenges. I focus on not just completing homework, but on building foundational understanding and critical thinking skills that will serve students long-term.

Session Logistics & Location

Where do the tutoring sessions take place?

To provide a dedicated and consistent learning environment, all tutoring sessions are held at my home in my garage-turned-classroom, conveniently located in East Long Beach. This allows for access to a wide range of educational resources and a quiet, focused setting for our work together. For the privacy and security of my clients and family, the full address and directions will be provided upon confirmation of your first session.

What does the learning space look like? Is it safe?

Absolutely. My tutoring space is a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that is organized and free from common distractions. It is equipped with all the tools found in a standard classroom along with all the necessary learning materials to ensure a productive session.

Do parents stay for the session?

Parents are welcome to stay for the first few minutes to help their child settle in. However, I find that students are often more focused and build greater independence when they work one-on-one with me. We can discuss what works best for your child, but typically parents drop off their student for the duration of the session. There are several coffee shops and parks nearby including Coffee Bean, Cassidy’s Corner and El Dorado Park to name a few, if you would like to stay in the area.

Scheduling & Policies

How long is a typical session and how often should we meet?

The length of session depends on what you book and range from 30 minutes to 75 minutes. The frequency of sessions depends on the individual student's needs and goals. Most students benefit from at least one session per week. We can discuss the best schedule for your child during our initial consultation.

How do we schedule sessions?

You can schedule sessions by using my online scheduling link or reaching out via email. I recommend scheduling at least a week in advance to ensure availability.

What is your cancellation policy?

I understand that life happens! If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice, or no-shows, will be charged the full session fee. This policy helps ensure that I can offer the time slot to another student in need.

What are your rates and how is payment handled?

My session rates are found on my booking website. Payment is accepted via Zelle, cash, check or credit card and can be paid at the time of booking or in person at the time of the session.
